My Professional Philosophy
My goal for the media center is to challenge learners, provide them with tools, support and services, and watch them grow to their full potential.
As a Teacher-Librarian, I want to find creative and new ways to help students excel in reading and/or improve their literacy skills. I believe students need to be exposed to content that is meaningful, applicable, and interesting.
As a librarian, I see it as my responsibility to help patrons and students understand that the world of information is not simple. The amounts of information that a student can access can be overwhelming. Thus, it is important for them to learn to critically evaluate information around them. Students need to know how methods of publication affect information quality, how expertise is communicated, how power can change narratives, and how knowledge is transferred.
I am an educator, an advocate for literacy and most importantly, a lifelong learner.
