Welcome

Welcome to the new school year at MBS. I have no doubt that this school year will have it's share of challenges for us to overcome but I believe that "together, we rise" so I look forward to a great year ahead where we all put forth our BEST effort and settle for nothing less than the GREATNESS that lies within. I am Mr. Springs.  I have spent more than 25 years teaching and coaching middle and high school students in the Atlanta area and I come from a long line of educators. Both of my parents were educators and I have a sister who is a middle school teacher and coach.

I am originally from Oklahoma and a proud alumni of Langston University, the only HBCU (Historically Black College and University)  in Oklahoma. I love history, traveling, and watching sports.

Each day I strive to  make a positive difference in the lives of the students at Bethune Middle School and I look forward to a great year.

One of my biggest influencers is Dr. Martin Luther King,  Jr.  and one of my favorite quotes is from Marianne Williamson. An excerpt from her poem is below:

" Our Deepest Fear" by Mariann Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
